Find moments,not files.
SightRoll watches every clip on-device, breaks it into scenes, and surfaces the exact ten seconds you need — synced across every device, end-to-end encrypted.
A young woman in a black dress leans over a blue-felt table, cue in hand, mid-shot in a vibrant indoor pool hall. Other players move through the colorful lighting behind her.
Point. Wait. Cut.
Three steps from a folder of unwatched dailies to a searchable, scene-aware library.
Point at a folder.
Drop in a project folder, an SD card dump, an external drive, a decade of footage. SightRoll scans recursively. No tagging. No organizing. No prep.
SightRoll watches.
A vision-language model describes every clip and breaks each into labeled scenes. A-Roll, B-Roll, Interview, BTS, sorted automatically. Run it overnight.
Search like you talk.
Type a thought. Get the moment. Drag scenes straight into your NLE, or batch-export trimmed clips with your codec of choice.
Plan the cut before you open the timeline.
Describe the video you want to make. Director writes the brief, breaks it into beats, and pulls the strongest scenes from your library. Hand it to your timeline, or push back and try again.
Search by meaning,
not filename
Your clips are indexed semantically. Ask for "on the coast" and SightRoll surfaces the scenes that look like it, not just files whose name contains those words.
Every clip, already broken down.
A two-hour interview becomes thirty discoverable moments. Each scene gets a title, a description, a timestamp, and its own semantic embedding, so you can pull the laugh, the pour, the reveal, without scrubbing.
Drag the moments out. Keep the rest.
Select scenes across any number of clips. Batch-export trimmed, codec-configured, ready for the timeline.

Three kinds of editor, one workflow.
Pick a story. Each one is the same product seen from a different chair: the questions you'd actually ask, and the clips you'd actually pull.
Cut from a weekend's worth of footage. Without watching it back.
You shoot more than you'll ever sit down to log. SightRoll watches every card overnight, and the next morning you search by what's in the shot, not what you named it.

Your library,
finally making sense
From raw footage dumps to a fully searchable, organized archive. SightRoll handles the analysis so you can focus on the work.

AI Video Analysis
A vision model runs entirely on your Mac. Every clip gets a natural-language description, content tags, and an editorial category.

Scene Detection
Every video is sliced into labeled scenes with precise timecodes, titles, and semantic embeddings, so you can find a 10-second moment inside hours of footage.

Director Search
Describe a shot in plain English. Director ranks matching scenes across your whole archive.

On-Device Processing
Point it at a folder and walk away. Frames are analyzed locally on Apple Silicon. Pause, resume, and cancel anytime. Nothing uploads.

Beat Sheet
Director assembles selected scenes into a beat sheet (Hook, Build, Payoff), ready to drag onto your timeline.

Scene Export
Export selected scenes as trimmed clips, batched across videos. Configure codec, resolution, and bitrate.

AI Folder Organization
Every clip is filed into a nested tree (A-Roll, B-Roll, Establishing) with content subcategories and live counts. Browse your archive by what's actually in it.

Director Plans the Cut
Describe the video you want to make. Director returns a ranked stack of scenes with the reasoning behind each pick: a starting edit before you ever open a timeline.
Every frame is processed locally. In Cloud Sync mode, compressed HEVC proxy copies live in YOUR iCloud Drive — end-to-end encrypted, never on our servers. Your master footage never moves.
Your archive,
on every device.
Your catalog — scenes, descriptions, embeddings — is end-to-end encrypted and stored on SightRoll cloud. Only you can read it. Proxies and previews sync through your iCloud Drive, playable on any device like any file. Your master footage never moves.

Privacy first means on-device first.
SightRoll runs entirely on your Mac by default: no keys, no servers, no frames sent anywhere. Cloud analysis is opt-in. Cloud Sync keeps proxies and previews in YOUR iCloud Drive; your catalog and embeddings are end-to-end encrypted on SightRoll cloud — only you can read them. We tell you exactly what crosses the wire.
SightRoll searches footage you actually shot. Not stock libraries. Not other people's clips.
Runs entirely on Apple Silicon
A vision-language model runs locally through Apple's MLX framework. No keys, no servers, no video or content ever uploaded. Pull the cable and SightRoll keeps working.
5-10x faster. Honest about the tradeoff.
For overnight runs across thousands of clips. SightRoll extracts a handful of preview frames per scene and sends them to a hosted vision model. Your master video files never leave your drive, but the sample frames do. Off by default.
Working with NDA'd or sensitive material? Stay on-device. It's the default for a reason.

The honest answers.
Your master video files stay local in every mode. In on-device mode, no video, frame, or content leaves your Mac. Only anonymous crash diagnostics (no filenames, no content) to help us fix bugs. In cloud mode, only sample preview frames (~3-6 stills per scene) are sent to a hosted vision model for faster processing.
On-device processing requires Apple Silicon (M1 or later) for the MLX-based vision-language model. Cloud mode works on any modern Mac, but Apple Silicon gives the best experience.
Depends on your chip and footage length. A rough guide: a one-hour clip takes ~30-90 minutes on an M2 in on-device mode, or under ten minutes in cloud mode. You can leave it running in the background.
Resolve's AI IntelliSearch finds clips inside a single project. SightRoll finds scenes, the exact 10-second moment inside a 2-hour recording, across your entire archive, every card you've ever shot. And Director plans the cut before you open any timeline: describe the video you want to make, get a scene stack, drag it to Resolve or Premiere. They're complementary tools.
Yes. SightRoll exports trimmed, codec-configured clips you drag straight into any NLE. Individual scenes or batch selections with consistent codec/resolution/bitrate settings.
Public beta. Core features (analysis, scene detection, search, export) are stable and used in production by editors today. Beta means we're still polishing edge cases and adding features fast. Beta pricing locks in for early users.
No. Cloud Sync stores your catalog (descriptions, scene data, embeddings) and compressed HEVC proxy copies in YOUR iCloud Drive — not our servers. Proxies are plain video files accessible like any iCloud file. Your master footage never moves from the drive where it lives. The sync is end-to-end encrypted with a passphrase only you hold.
Yes. iOS close beta is starting now. The iPhone app lets you search, browse, and organize your synced catalog from your phone — your Mac does the AI analysis, your iPhone gets the results. Requires a Basic, Pro, or Max subscription with Cloud Sync enabled. Request access in the iOS section above.
No. SightRoll is your assistant editor: it finds, organizes, and prepares the moments. The cut is yours. Director helps build edit plans and pull clips, but exports go to your timeline, your tool, your call.
