What it does with an unlogged archive
MVI_4471.MOV tells nobody anything, and neither does the folder you dropped it in at 2am. SightRoll watches each clip and writes down what is in it, so the organisation comes from the content instead of from whatever you managed to type at the time.
It suggests a tree — editorial roles at the top, content subcategories underneath — based on what it actually found in your library. You review it before anything moves. Nothing is renamed or relocated behind your back.
The drives you have not touched in three years are the point. Processing runs offline on Apple Silicon, in the background, for as long as it takes — a decade of cards is a scheduling problem, not a blocker.
Once the library is indexed you stop navigating folders at all. Describe the shot and the matching scenes come back trimmed, wherever they were filed.

Nothing leaves the drive
Analysis runs on your Mac. In on-device mode nothing about your footage crosses the wire at all; if you enable cloud processing, a few preview stills per scene go to a hosted model and your masters still never move.
